Hello to all:
I wanted to know if anyone had any information on workshops or
other clay events (including gallaries or shows) that would be taking
place in July in the Mackinac Island , Michigan area. I'm planning a
trip (read escape from Florida) there this summer and any
information anyone has would be very helpful.

Thanks!
Kin

Thank you for the information! I'll be up in that area for a week or two
and was looking for information on the general area as well. Thanks!
I wasn't aware of the "Fudgies" . Do you know where that came
from? Our tourists are known as "Snow Birds" or sometimes less
flatering names. (Smile)

Thanks again!
Kin

As a former and at-heart Michigander, I am dubious
about any workshops on The Island. Galleries,
perhaps, but.....the Straights are gorgeous and The
Island is beloved but really pretty touristy. As you
may know, the natives call them "Fudgies." Consider
just soaking up the scenery, the Fort and the history
of the place.

If you are driving, perhaps people have other Michigan
suggestions to visit on your way north - starting with
Pewabic Pottery in Detroit.

(If you're roaming around Up North, you might enjoy
the Leland/Leelanau County/Sleeping Bear & the
Manitous/Traverse City area.)

this getting OT....for some reason or other 'they" have oodles of fudge
shops on the island, so tourists buy a lot of fudge to take home (usually
that means going across the bridge to the lower peninsula.)...ergo..."fudgies"

another cutesy name...trolls....folks who live "beneath" the
bridge...ie in the lower peninsula of Mich

btw: not exactly close, but in the same "general area" are the wonderful
areas of Leelanau county, Petosky, Traverse CIty etc,,,all of which have
wonderful potters...there is a decent art fair at Northern Mich college
sometime in the summer too....

Judy....in rainy mid-Michigan...glad to see the rain to fill the wetlands
and keep the ducks, geese, spring peepers et al happy...we had an errant
white swan in our back last week! geese didn;t seem to like it
