deb,
having used molds for many years...MANY years ago...i have MANY to get rid
of too...
tried to donate to locals and to VA groups that uses them...but find it
difficult. not much use for used ones.
found a local recycler. they use them to mash up for use in highway/road
construction!
oh well...better than in a dump?

Hey Deb,

Try potterbarter, which is a list that is moderated by PrimalMommy. I think
the subscription url is potterbarter-subscribe@yahoogroups.com but I won't
swear to it........ Anyway, I think there are over 400 folks on it now that
barter and sell stuff - no discussion allowed, just what you have or want to
sell or barter. Another group is Bartered Crafts, which I THINK is also at
Yahoo, but not sure on that...hang on a minute and lemme check.........yup.
barteredcrafts-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Good luck!

So, I would like to sell the molds as they are taking up valuable space I
need for my wedging slab, etc...

Hello,
Would any of you know of a list more focused on poured ceramics? I purchased a used kiln and, as a condition, all the ceramics "stuff" that came with it. So, I would like to sell the molds as they are taking up valuable space I need for my wedging slab, etc...
Thank you!

There are a couple Yahoo groups; one is called ceramics and the other
ceramiclovers. (You sign on at groups.yahoo.com) It is primarily
slipcasters, and people often sell molds on those lists.

A. Reasons for not ever wanting to buy or acquire used moulds:
1. they are past their "sell by" date.
2. the designs are out of date
3. they are other people's designs and not something easily related to.

B. The main difficulties of selling used moulds:

see 1-3 above.

Many, many people have been sold pups in the past and advise anyone who
will listen, never to buy used moulds. OK if someone is giving away and you
want to try them out, but there are thousands of moulds sitting on shelves
all over the world, which are neither use nor ornament. It does not matter
what you say or how much you can assure people of the contrary, they are
going to be extremely skeptical as to whether they are usable or not. If
there is not one of those "make and paint" places or a night-class which
uses moulds nearby where you can donate, it is going to be extremely
difficult disposing of them. Maybe a "yours for free" advertisement in the
local newspaper would be your best bet? Otherwise, I am afraid these are
just more candidates for landfill.

Sincerely

Janet Kaiser

Deb -

ebay is always a great solution for "recycling" things, but if for some
reason that doesn't work out, you might want to check with your local
schools before you turn your molds into raw materials. Our university as
well as another local school have just started using these kinds of molds by
putting them together in new ways to change the meaning of things.
