Our guild has been working on relocation for about 2 years now. More so this
past 6 months and things are beginning to look imminent for moving.
My question is this......
What does your guild/group charge as a membership fee and what does that get
you?
We are moving into bigger and less subsidized digs and will need to think
about raising fees but are curious about what other groups charge - and for
what.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Smile!

dear Judith,
Hi, I saw this letter on the guild and was wanting to get in contact with you and others that are involved with creating spaces for artists to work. I am involved with a number of people in South Lake Tahoe and we are starting a co-op for ceramic artists. Any information that people have would be helpful...things you wish you would have done....things you wish you hadn't...any insights would help.
Thanks, Stacey

Penny -

We have a Guild here in Parksville on Vancouver Island(Pacific coast of
Canada). The Arrowsmith Potters Guild. Our annual membership fee is
$60.00CDN and we have an annual studio fee of $60.00 CDN.

The membership fee gives us the usual monthly newsletter, discounts on
seminars, workshops and tools, etc.

The studio fee gives us 24/7 access to the studio which has 8 new Laguna
wheels, a new North Star slab roller, an extruder, glazes, electric kilns
and a raku kiln, etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi Penni,

Our Guild has gathered info from many other groups, and the responses
vary widely.

Groups that do not offer studio space typically charge $25 to $45. Members
get to participate in sales, meetings, and other activities. They
typically get
a newsletter, and they may get discounts on workshops.

Guilds that operate studios typically charge $200 to $300. This covers access
to the studio, and may include some other activities like those listed above.
There are additional charges for materials and for firings.

Sorry this is a little vague, but I hope it helps. You might want to check
the Guild Survey summary at www.ovcag.org/guilds

How do you pay for all that equipment for such a small yearly studio fee?
Seems like just the replacement costs of equipment due to wear and tear
would be more than that.
