finish for dull glaze

It seems to me that if you are going to use them thar dull cups you should
leave them alone. Yes, I confessed to being crabby this morning, but I am
fond of tea. Any finish you put on the outside is likely to get into tiny
fissures in the obviously soft glaze, posibly ware, and may affect taste.
And anything you do that is permanent may affect the value of these
antiques.

My compromise suggestion: Sacrifice one already damaged cup and saucer
polish the heck out of it, put it on the mantel piece and have your friends
admire that glory that once was....
