silica carbonate (fff) - or, do we mean to say 'carborundum'?

Ohhhhh...I think we mean 'Silicon Carbide', whose
proprietary name, is 'Carborundum'...

Was the first I think of the man-made materials for Grinding
Wheels...as distinct anyway, from 'Natural' stone.

Many forms...'wet-and-dry' abrasive Papers...various grit
powders, as 'Clover' Valve Grinding Compound ( for
Automobile Valve seat grinding)...Slip-Stones, Whet Stones,
Grinding Wheels...

Usually a grey color...or dark grey sometimes...
