!000 pardons for somehow sending a mug exchange e-mail to the list instead
of to Chris. Honestly...I still don't know how that happened!

If you won't hold it against me... I have yet another question. When
teaching kids, I generally use Standard 105 white earthenware with Duncan
underglazes and Duncan Gl12 clear glaze. I ordered 105 and was sent
Campbells as a substitute. Does anyone have experience using Campbells with
Duncan glazes? I do not use earthenware for my own work and have little
experience with it.

I am using the clay to make a tile project with my daughter's school and so
I want to make sure the clay and glazes are compatible. When finished, we
should have 4 panels of 20 tiles each that will hang in the entranceway of
the school. The theme is multicultural and I am really excited about it!

Carole:

The consensus here (at your friendly neighborhood Campbell's outlet) is that
there _shouldn't_ be a problem. Campbell's WLF and Std 105 are basically
the same clay; chemically very similar, same COE, etc.

The recommended treatment is to bisque to 04 and glaze at 06, but that's
true for any earthenware.

Of course, the safest thing to do is test a couple of tiles for fit. If you
don't have a test kiln, then if you bring a few test tiles down to Pine
Ridge, we'll be happy to test-fire them for you.

Hey Carole,

I have used the campbells earthenware a couple few
several years ago (cant believe it has changed a whole
heck of a lot) and the duncan glaze on it .. I didn't
have a problem, not once.. Well I take that back I was
in a school community firing situation at that time
and well I guess the nicest thing I can say is there
is a time for learning for everyone.. Umm I also
learned that if you dont know for certain that the
kiln will be fired close to correctly DONT use the
bottle green on a standing object (as opposed to
tiles) .. But again learning processes.. :)
