Denise, Plaster on plaster can be done. You'll need two sponges and some
pure-lube or plasti-lube for this job. First mix plasti-lube and water,
50/50 then apply with a big sponge. Let it sit for five minutes. Take the
dry sponge and wipe off excess. Reapply a second coat to your mold, again
let it sit for five minutes. Wipe off excess again. You should see a sheen
building up on the plaster mold. If sheen is consistent all over mold then
you can pour your plaster. If not, add a third coat and repeat procedure.
When Plaster sets up well, place a piece of wood against the plaster piece
and tap lightly with a rubber mallet. This will loosen the plasters from
each other and allow you to pull the mold apart. Be gentle.

This may be a silly question but, can a plaster mold be used to cast
plaster? My husband, a builder, says nope, it'll stick. I, on the other
hand, am not so sure. Clay shrinks when cast which helps the removal,
plaster doesn't so I assume I'll need some type of release.
