While we are on pretty blues, this is Cardew's recipe and it comes out very
nice

Cobalt carb 20%
White tin oxide 20%
Black Manganese Oxide 10%
Talc Schist 10%
Plastic Red Clay 15%
China Clay 20%
Fe203 5%

Cardew explains what a schist is--type of rock--but I have used plain talc,
assuming that talc schist is probably pretty close, if less refined? Am I
pretty close?

Lili,

To what temp/cone are you firing this? Ox or reduction?

Thanks
Carol Ross

Dear Lily Krakowski,

Check your source of Talc Schist. It may contain Asbestos.

Best regards,
Ivor Lewis

The book lists this as a colorant. As Cardew worked at different temps as
far as I know this is a colorant, not a "finished product" I ahe used it as
a stain/colorant in slip, to paint on; one variant of the How to Dirty Up
Too Pure Cobalt....
