We've got a lot of exciting things coming up here in the Phoenix area both pre- and post- NCECA.
Vince Pitelka is coming to do a workshop February 10-14, for Arizona CLAY at Grand Canyon (which I announced earlier). See www.arizonaclay.org/events.html for more information.
Arizona CLAY and Desert Dragon Pottery will host a workshop with Xiao Ping Luo and Junyo Shao of China. This dynamic couple will present a participatory sculpture workshop Monday through Friday February 24-February 28, 2003 from 9am-4pm. Cost is $195 for Arizona CLAY members, $210 for non-members and $215 for 2003 membership+workshop. For more information see www.arizonaclay.org/events.html or their amazing work at- www.xiaopingstudio.com
Desert Dragon Pottery will be welcoming Michael Wisner of Snowmass Colorado to do a five day participatory workshop Wednesday through Sunday, March 26-30, 2003 on Southwest Pottery techniques. This workshop will run 4-9pm Wednesday through Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday and Sunday. Michael has worked with Juan Quezada as an apprentice, every year for over ten years and will return from his most recent visit just before his workshop here in Phoenix. We anticipate new ideas and techniques to be fresh on his mind and already welcome visitors from as far as Minnesota for this workshop. Michael is a dynamic artist and generous with his knowledge and expertise. Join us as we prospect, process and work clay and try various firing methods to create work Southwestern in style and technique. Cost for this workshop is $225 per person. More information is available at- http://www.desertdragonpottery.com/calendar.html#michaelwisner or see Michael's website at- www.southwestpottery.com
