cooling the kiln---slow or natural

I have a Skutt with controller and until the advent of the slow cool
discussion, I was using the Cone Fire Mode Slow to ^6 with a 20
minute hold at the end.

My kiln loads usually consist of a mixture of glossy and matte
glazes. With slow cooling the mattes look really good, but the
glossies look different.

Some of the glossies look better, some not as good.

I'm planning to fire glossy only next time and use the "old" Cone
Fire Mode. What might I expect?

Centerport, NY--still icy. They say that Long Island sound may freeze
over. That happened some time in the seventies and someone drove a VW
over the ice from here to Connecticut.
