brent extruder

Does anyone have information on Brent's version of an extruder with =
expansion box? I have recently acquired a like-new extruder with two =
barrels. One is the normal Brent which I am familiar with. The other =
has a 12" x 12" metal flared end, but it came with nothing for =
attaching or holding dies.
Brent (Aamaco) acknowledges that they made such an item about 19 years =
ago, but I guess they threw away any archive of information on it.

I'd like to make use of it without having to reinvent the wheel so to =
speak. Anybody got a manual for one of these lying around?
Thanks,

Edge

Don't have a manual, but make the die bigger than 12x12 and hold it to the
expansion box with 4 c-clamps. Bob Huskey -- Tallahassee, Florida

Hello Edge:

I have an old Brent extruder with the expansion box. There was no manual as
far as a know of. It sounds like you have some parts missing.
It came with a 12" square angle iron frame that is clamped on to hold the
dies. Also there was a steel washer about 6" round that is used for 2 piece
hollow dies.
Brent made a set of hollow dies that came with it. A square, round and hex
shape.
I welded a flange on the top of the extruder so I could clamp it to the end
of a Venco 4 in pugmill. It worked well for tiles!
When I get back to my workroom I'll see if I missed anything, and e-mail off
list if I have.

Hello Craig,

Thanks for the info on the extruder. The barrel has an internal "spider"
with an approx. 4" round metal plate w/nut. I assume the plate is to spread
the clay to the outside. There's nothing more with it, so more info re
dimensions, maybe pics. would help.

I was going to start extruding vases again. But i really need a to make

Mark, I don't think expansion boxes were ever manufactured for the
Brent extruder. You need to make, or have a welding shop make, one.
It would be a pretty simple design.
I will send you a picture of my homemade one, if you like.
