Mosaics are the perfect solution for all of our
little "oopses"....it makes life a little easier to
bare when you open a kiln and find that one nasty
little pot has spit glaze on its neighbors,or that it
really isnt a good idea to use the other side of a
kiln shelf without making sure you've really taken off
all the wash on the underside...in fact in school we
had a smash wall (aptly named "The wall of shame")
where one could release tensions by savagely hurling
the latest mistakes against it....worked wonders for
us and much cheaper than therapy. Incidently, it
provided me with buckets and buckets of glorious
shards, which i kept and moved 500 miles to my new
mountain home in the sticks.
I have run a couple of mosaic workshops out here
using nothing but these collected shards...and i am
now planning on mosaicing both of our bathrooms, as
well as one wall of my studio.
