i have a freind who mixed a glaze and used colemite for gerstly
borate. she said that the glaze is flying off onto other pots and
running down all over her shelves. someone told her to use 6% benonite
and that would take care of the problem.. but it didnt help at all. i would
find out from her what the glazes were but she did it in several of the
glazes and they all are doing the same thing. does anyone have any
suggestions on what i could tell her to do. i was told that colemite was a
sub for gb and it should have worked.. any help would be great!

Yes, the same old story.
If you were right!
Colemanite is a spiting material .Go to http://www.potters.org/category039.htm scroll
down until you find the letters about this material/ If She uses it up to 10% and does
not know to use a software she can try to change it this way. ( i rounded the
numbers)

Cadycal (California) 9.00
Dolomite 0.20
Calcium Carbonate 0.60
Flint 0.20
There are other ways of course , you can e mail me the recipe if you (she) wish
