Hi clay friends
Voices, I have running dialogs and visions. I push them out - they
resist but I push them anyway and bolt the door. I like Dannon's image with
the tape over the mouth. Be careful what you tell yourself. Correct the
negatives out loud if necessary. I appreciate the reminder, my parents are
arriving today. (85 and 82) They were married 52 years a week ago. I will
turn the filter on and love them anyway, because I am lucky to still have
them in my life. They were supportive but did not understand why I chose art
in college. Being a parent is a scary thing and sometimes our words really
mean we're scared for our children and come out differently. I think I might
have done this to my children occasionally. They are verbal enough to talk
back and polite enough to be respectful, albeit loudly.
I was taught to wash bisqueware, glaze, and wait 24 hours to fire.
This works for me although I have gotten away with loading the kiln sooner.
I do not have that particular glaze recipe handy but could get it next
week. (campus is shutdown) It might be in the archives because someone
actually posted it before me. I have made mistakes mixing this glaze
(because I was talking and not paying attention) that also turned into
wonderful dark oil slick blues. I love raku and do it every chance I can,
but I am not an expert. Many on this list are. Ah, there lies the
difference between exuberance and expertise. If you are interested in what I
have done recently I will try and send some pictures. I have some but
couldn't figure out how to send them. My daughter is here for a week, so she
could help me.
I wish all a joyous season. I have decided to journal this year. I
am grateful I found this list. It has been a wonderful comfort and sharing
place. Dawn
