black boxes and youthful arrogance

I am TOTALLY with Fabienne here. Who does that student think s/he is to
obstruct public space with an unvetted construction in a very very skittish,
anxious city ?

The idea is nice. Maybe the execution was lovely. But there is something
infuriating about some person thinking "Oh I am so wonderful, that I can do
this, and everyone else be damned."

Here is a city that has suffered a major disaster, lost lives, had its
entire concept of self, safety and adequacy and so on shattered. And this
person hippity hops along enchanted with SELF and thinks I, ME, had this
idea, and now I, ME is going to make it public!

WHY exactly does the public demand that homeless, insane people be banned
from sleeping on steam grates, or in boxes in the park, people drunk as
coots punished for peeing in public, and women from showing their bare
breasts on beaches, in parks, on the street or in the subway, and then turn
around and scold the same law enforcement agencies for removing or banishing
a large, potentially dangerous construction in a public place?

There is this new fangled notion that everyone who has ever picked up a
piece of crayon is an ARTIST and therefore entitled to all sorts of stuff us
mere mortals are not....This same person no doubt would think it ok to put
on a son et lumiere show during a blackout....
