kyenite questions-particle size issues

Dear David,
Having thrown probably thirty or more tons of the same Raku /Stoneware Body
with varying particle sizes of Kyanite I can pretty definitively tell you
that the smaller the particle size the less the kyanite will improve thermal
shock resistance. The difference between 35 and 100 mesh is very large in
Raku with 100 mesh being just about like no kyanite at all.

I have been throwing a body with 35 mesh at 17% for some time now and it
really isn't hard on the hands at all. Particles are needle shaped in two
dimensions but flat in the third and line up very fast in throwing causing no
discomfort that I can tell. Grog is much worse on the hands than Kyanite.
