I didn't get some of my glaze buckets out of my unheated workshop in
time to prevent them from freezing.
Are they rendered unusable by being frozen and thawed? The frozen glazes
are all shinos. Thanks for any info.

One thing is sure, when the glaze will be liquid again and you will stir it well and apply
- In the kiln it will not Re freeze.

The other way around, boiling might harm, if you have soda bicarbonate in the
glaze, but this is a different story!

I think your glazes will be OK as long as the buckets didn't split!

Hi John Anthony,

My glaze buckets in Colorado freeze every winter, since I'm not there and
leave the studio completely unheated from early December until June. The
glazes are fine, but they need to be resieved. Last year I bought a Talisman
sieve to do it faster, and was very pleased with the time saved.

I do, however, put my synthetic wax in the refrigerator to keep it from
freezing. (The refrigerator is not turned off, and continues to work while
we're not there.)

Sorry, I don't have the original note anymore, but I think it was someone
from TN. One thing to think about is that the garage temps are often
considerably higher than outdoor temps. It's been in the 20's here at night, every night
lately, but I don't think my garage gets below 45. I also lived in MN for
way too many years & I would leave cases of soda in the garage all year.
Despite the outdoor temp, the garage temp almost never got to freezing.
