Wendy--

I work with colored clay a lot.

When you are talking about joining slices, are you talking about slabs that
you have made?

Usually, when I know I am going to be joining particular colored slabs that
I have created, I mesh the slabs with a rolling pin or a mini roller after =
I
have scored and slipped the interior. I usually plan ahead the parts that
will be joined so that the design does not appear to be cut and will blend
together.

You didn=B9t really specify what types of structures you are building, so it
is hard to give advice. It sounds as if you are trying to do the diamond
pattern that looks like a black and white tile floor. Is that correct or
are you trying to do something else?

If you are trying to make the perfect floor tile pattern, then I suggest yo=
u
cut your clay with an angle, slip and score and line it up.
It=B9s not easy, but the angle of at least 45 degrees will help. Smooshing
from the inside is best and then rolling it from the outside with the mini
roller might work.

I=B9ll be interested in hearing what others have to say.
