I'm not so sure about that.
Getting back to basics...
has a whole lot goin for it.

Been wedging on and off for seven years...
and I feel there is still "tons" to learn about it yet.

Presently I do a spiral wedge
in a way that creates a double action...
(I can only manage this "action" for a bit
then back to single direction "ripples"
till I regain form..then again... experiment.)
...turn the clay a quarter spin, off axis..
the palm drives down through the middle of the "cone"
dividing and "smearing" it in two directions..both foreward and back.

Rather than a single direction shearing action,
which I think is to radical of a "cut"...
very commonly done...
do more of a horizontal "push".. a smear

think smear, it really helps...thanx Vince.

I watch how the centre of the cone moves, or remains..
and try and involve it into the outer circumferance
so as to minimize any isolation of "particles".

Have seen photos of advanced "double tulip"
Japanese wedging technique...
still trying to figure that one out.

Like breathing ..very simple!
but oh.... so very complex.

I keep hearing stories about these fantastic Japanese wedging techniques
and what they end up looking like. I'm fascinated but have been unable to
find any info or pictures. Anyone have any resources to point me to?

than here at my "other" job!
