Dear Clayarters,

Sorry for the short notice... but we are a rather young (and some would
say:-) overworked pottery center here in Atlanta. Since we've opened 3
months ago, we've been swamped... work, ideas, projects, you name it...

So this call for entries for our December show is coming at a rather short
notice (!!!) ... but we hope to make it easy for anyone interested. We're
not looking for professional slides or photos. And no fancy entry packages
either....

I would like extend an invitation to all potters in the greater Atlanta/
northern Georgia area.

Whatever you call it=85 Winter Solstice, Hannukah, Saturnalia, or Christmas,=

December is a traditional feast of lights, flame and radiance. This
December 1 through the 24th the MudFire Pottery Center celebrates with a
Holiday Lights pottery exhibit and sale.

The exhibit will focus on the myriad of ways clay can be formed to hold and
display flame and candle light. Think traditional candle-holders, sconces,
centerpieces, votives, floating candle vessels and menorahs. And also
think not-so-traditional fire circles, altars, and cauldrons.

Kindle your creativity and submit hard-copy images or email URL links to
images of your work to be considered for entry into this multi-artist
pottery exhibit. All photos and images of should be recent and
representative of the style of work you plan to include in the show.

For consideration, please fill in entry form and email URL link to images
of your work to info@mudfire.com Alternatively, you can mail the entry
form along with color photographs, postcards or printouts (SASE for return)
to MudFire, 1441 Dresden Drive, Suite 250, Atlanta, GA 30319, Attn:
Holiday Lights.

Flame vessels accepted for exhibit will be judged on concept, form,
execution, ingenuity, and craftsmanship. All work must be heat and fire
proof and intended to hold one or more candles. Each piece must be
accompanied by a minimum of two unscented candles stylistically appropriate
to the piece and suitable for lighting. All works will be available for
sale through MudFire Gallery at 40/60 percent commission.

Deadline for receipt of image/photo entries: November 9, 2002

Deadline for receipt of accepted works: November 27, 2002

Holiday Lights Exhibition: December 1-December 24, 2002

The exhibition is open to any artist or craftsperson working with clay over
the age of 18 and residing in the greater Atlanta area. Works may be
functional, sculptural or decorative in nature. Works made from kits or
cast from commercial molds are not eligible.
