Dear Leland, that might be ok for low-fire work- at higher temps it may
melt.

In my early years of potting, we were consstructing my gas kiln of a
castable refractory mix, and running short of grog (and not researching
qualities of pumice) I substituted some when we were casting the roof part
of the kiln. The pumice was still in gravel-sized pieces.

Well, at the height of the first cone 10 firing, after the kiln was shut
off, pieces of the roof dropped down and into the top shelf of pots, of
course....looked like dogfood the next day. All I could do was laugh!

If it is finely ground, like grog, who knows what it would do- depends on
the amount- at the very least you'd have iron spots.

Ann Brink in CA,... wondering if more than one person looked at the new page
of "Recent Sculpture" I mentioned the other day...(I guess I should get a
counter).
