Gee Valerie, you've made me jealous! Here I am in Florida celebrating the
first day in I can't remember how long that it's been under 90! This
transplanted Detroit City Girl has brief...very brief, yearnings for that
cold crisp air. But then I remember the snow and I'm over it. However, I do
miss the color change.
Enjoy your sweaters! We've got about 2 or 3 more months before I have
to drag mine out for their six week stay.

While I sympathize with Kelly's predicament, winters are soooooo long up
yonder, we're FINALLY cooling off here in Charlotte, NC.

My seasonal dysfunction his about mid-August and lasts until cool weather
arrives. We're chased from the yard by the bugs, humidity, ozone red days
and languish in our artificially cooled environments. Race from
air-conditioned car to air-conditioned building to air-conditioned car
again. While anything functional or decorative in my garden or yard wilts
despite any amount of watering, and the weeds seize the opportunity to take
over. I need a machete to get out there right now. Pulling weeds midsummer
means working amid swarms of biting insects while perspiration runs off your
body. Night falls, and it's not cooler, just darker.

As summer wears on, the pool even offers no solace. The mosquitoes settle
instantly on anything that's above water. The yankee girl in me yearns for
just one cool breeze. One crisp morning. One night where the windows can
be opened up and fresh air can waft through the house.

So it's finally here. YEAH!!!!!! No freeze yet, but the A/C hasn't clicked
on in THREE DAYS!!! I made chili last night, I baked bread. Tonight, pot
roast! I'm wearing long sleeves today and actually had to shrug into my
favorite oversize jean jacket. Been fondling my sweaters and favorite suede
jacket. It's you and me guys. Any day now!
