rim cracks with this glaze

Ron,
the only way i can describe the cracks is that they are very fine, difficult
to see until you tap the rim to see if it rings. So i would say they are not
opened up at all, just hair line cracks, in some cases they don't even go
all the way through the pot. No sharp edges on them. In the last two kiln
loads i have had five or six pieces crack with this glaze and not a single
crack with any of the other glazes.
I think it is mixed well before application since i use this stuff called
"flocs" from axner that works well for me, and it also has a litte cmc as
well. I will settle slightly but i keep stirring it. without these additives
it does turn into a rock.
so please let me know if this gives you enough info, or if you need to know
more about the situation. thanks again,
Paul

Paul,

Have you tried glazing a piece inside and out with the offending glaze?

I keep thinking back to:

"spray
> two different glazes along the outside rim and the bottom of the pot."

How different are they, anyway?

Glazes of dissimilar thermal expansion (fit), one on the inside and the
other on the outside, can crack a pot, especially with vitreous
claybodies.

Are the coats on the outside much thinner than the liner glaze? Are any
of them Temmoku or iron red? I had trouble with one of those, in
combination with other glazes.

Best wishes,
