does anyone have a recipe for an iron red that works well on greenware? I
fire to cone 10-11, and most of the iron reds i have seem too low on clay to
work with greenware. thanks

Here are a few that should work for raw glazing.

#320 SHANER RED 10 REDUCTION OXIDATION

BONE ASH 9
TALC 3
WHITING 19
CUSTER FELDSPAR 47
EDGAR PLASTIC KAOLIN 22

ADD: RED IRON OXIDE 4%

Also try for C10

50 Iron bearing ball clay (OM# or one with more iron)
50 Nepheline syenite
===================
I tried this in one in soda/salt and got a lovely kaki red/brown. You might
try it as is, and try another version with the addition of some (maybe
1-3%for starters), of good quality iron oxide.

50 Redart
59 Nepheline Syenite

#118 SHANER RED-GREEN 9-10 REDUCTION (VERY NICE GLAZE) YOU MIGHT
WANT TO TRY A VERSION SUBBING THE kONA A-3 SPAR WITH Custer. This glaze at
C9-10 has a lovely buttery matt finish. Apply thinnish for the red.

KONA A-3 FELDSPAR 49.1
TALC 4
KAOLIN 23.1
BONE ASH 3.8
WHITING 20

ADD: RED IRON OXIDE 4%
