My coop has bought it's own building and is remodling for the studio etc.

It currently has been decided that the enterance into the building will be
through the
Kiln Room. Now there are plans for an exhaust fan out and one for air in.
Plus kiln venting system under 2 of the 3 kilns. I still question how safe
this is as an entrance for us and our students.

Second is the glaze making room - 8 x 19. No doors to close at either end of
it. Should there be some kind of vent or exhaust fan out of that area as
well. Folks have questioned how much could the airborne particles cause harm
because there are lots of different folks mixing glazing and it's not like
being a productional potter who does all the glaze mixing.

Feedback please.

Thanks,
Pam

Have no advice to give you but please please please check with the Fire
Department before you spend a single penny on construction. Despite this
God Only Knows How Many Miles Away situation I still find the hair on the
back of my neck standing up at the thought of an entrance through a kiln
room, where there may be fire and flames as in reduction? How about the
pizza man, or a stranger coming to ask something?

And in my opinion--not knowledge, opinion-- glaze rooms should have doors.
Preferably lockable against people poking around.
