I paid aroughly $125US for mine about seven years ago. Don't use it all that
much but comes in handy sometimes. Where are you having to pay three hundred
bucks?

Hi Craig;

In Canada. Tucker's Pottery Supplies sells them for $285.00 and then there
is $42.75 in GST and Prov Sales Tax on top of that, brings the price to
$327.75 in total.

Marianne,
I hear ya on this one.

I too live in Ontario and shop at Tuckers. Everyone is trying to be helpful
but what y'all need to remember is that it may only by $150 in Florida (or
anywhere else in the US) but once we get the exchange, duty, taxes and
shipping added up we may as well take out a loan for a small car!!! The $300
Canadian from Tuckers would be cheaper but is still quite expensive.

I _really_ want to get a York kick wheel BUT, once I added in all the
exras I was looking at nearly $1000 for a $200 wheel. My plan is to go to
Axner when I am down in Florida with the family in 2003 and bring one home
with me!!

I like the Giffen Grip but have learned to tap centre. This summer in my
historic studio I used chucks ALOT as I made a number of pitchers and
bottles. It worked really well but then I wasn't trying to do big production
and only brought home the best of the best to be fired.

If you get any info on a cheaper Giffen Grip don't keep it a secret, eh?
