I had my Olympus E10 taken from my auto recently and my homeowners won't
cover replacing it due to our high deductible and I am having to settle for a
less expensive Kodak EasyShare dx3700 3.1 megapixel to get any decent
resolution and I AM HAVING TROUBLE GETTING IT TO SEND THE IMAGES FROM THE
CMAERA'S INTERNAL MEMORY TO MY COMPUTER VIA USB.I am trying to save the $80
for the docking system and use the USB and included software and am having
no luck uploading them.Has anyone this camera and done this successfully and
can explain it to a computer ''dummy''.I am wanting to send an email with a
photo over AOL of some pots and clay equipment .

I had a heck of a time with this. I had the docking system and couldn't get
it to work. I spent several days, tried to read their directions. Finally I
think my solution (I'm a MAC user) was to have Apple Share on remote only. =
I
don't know the answer if you have a PC.

The dummy here may well be Kodak!

Kodak's camera-to-computer software has been notoriously troublesome. I
have a Kodak DC290 (3 year old technology) whose USB cable and software
still sits in a drawer somewhere--never even tried it!

What I and many others have done is spend $25 or so and buy a Card Reader
(SanDisk makes a good one--it's tiny, about the size of a mouse) and plug
*that* into your USB computer port. Then simply pop the storage card out
of your camera and into the reader. Your Windows programs instantly
recognize the the storage card (and its files, the JPG images) just as if
it were a hard disk or a floppy.

You can then transfer those JPG's from the card (and erase them) the same
as any file on your hard disk. I've taken almost 8000 pics with my DC290,
most all on a single 64 megabyte card. So it's been slipped in and out of
camera and reader hundreds of times--good as new!

Of course the card reader can be left plugged into a USB computer port all
the time--no need to fool around with a USB cable and the camera when you
want to transfer your photos.

Have you used other devices on that USB port before? It could be the
port not the camera.

You might try connecting the camera to the computer via the usb cord and then go to
MY COMPUTER and see if the camera shows up as a drive. If so, you can download
directly--without using the Kodak software.
