I am looking for a glaze recipe or technique that will give me a =
simulated rust look on ceramics. It does not even have to be a glaze, =
and finish will do so long as it looks very real. I am making a set of =
shackles out of clay and I want them to look like old metal.

Thanks,
Chris Clyburn

Chris,
Go to the nearest hardware store like Home Depot and get "Instant Rust" by
Modern Options. It works like a charm. I've used it on unglazed pieces and
you can't tell that they aren't metal.
They make several different finishes too.
