Tile Mosaics Class with Alfredo Ratinoff
Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm -9:30pm for 6 weeks
Beginning September 19 - October 24, 2002

Join resident artist Alfredo Ratinoff as he teaches the different =
techniques of making ceramic tile mosaics. Students will create their own =
mosaic tiles, learn design and a variety of mounting techniques. The =
class will cover the most basic mosaics, using large tile pieces and =
commercial tiles, and the most intricate mosaics, small tile design and =
three dimensional surface effects. Participants will be encouraged to =
work on various types of surfaces and create textures with glazes and =
clay. They will be focusing on use of color and design, taking into =
consideration the function and location of their mosaic tile works.
Alfredo Ratinoff was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He studied at the =
National School of Ceramics in Buenos Aires, and then in Madrid, Barcelona,=
and Florence. He has been an Arlington resident for over 10 years and =
now resides in Washington, DC. He specializes in large murals and has =
been commissioned extensively throughout the U.S. and by major corporations=
.
