I'm making my first big ( 2 of em!) (16 x 22) coiled and luted pots. Using
Laguna ^6 Calico mid-range stoneware. Don't want them to freeze and explode
this winter when left outside. Should I glaze or not----?
Am using an Olympic oval kiln and could fire to ^8.

Please forgive grammatical errors- I am, 73 and only have an MA in psych !

Also, I taught Art in Art dept under Tony Ivins- a close friend of Paul
Soldner ( whom I agree should be on the Famous list). Does anyone remember
Tony Ivins-----chair Art Dept- Chaffey College- ?

Look forward to comments, and ??????

Hello Barb
You will help my broken soul and I will help you not to break your soil ( Calico).
Calico is made for ^5
Lately I made absorption test to this claybody in 1220C ^6 in my kiln,( I checked) and
got this result
Calico 1.26
interpretations to the Glaze Gurus.
Many years ago, in the last milenium, perhaps 1997, where I learnt, my teacher used
as "high fire" 1240C should be ^7 or 8. My teacher did not like it, she said the
sculptors were collapsing - no wonder!
If it will not collapse I belive it will be quite vitrified.
