I finally got a pictures of my most treasured clay object onto
my web site. My Dad brought it back from Asia after WW 2. It's
an unglazed porcelain ram on a mahogany carved base. The clay is
funky, with pop outs and spots all over. When you turn it over
you can see where the body was made in a solid piece and then
carved out to make a hollow area in the base. The texture of the
hair is delicately incised. I love the bumpy back bone! The
only glaze is on the eye. Anyone know from what tradition this
kind of sculpture derives? What country?
