burns red fireclay, aka occumulgee

Those of you that remember Burns red fireclay, or Occumulgee, do you know of
a similar substitute? If my memory serves me correctly, this clay came out
of Georgia. If so, please e-mail me: sprungarch@hotmail.com I recently
came across an earthenware body recipe I used in graduate school which
contained PBX, Pine Lake and Occumulgee, all now out of production. Thanks.

Lucien -
As substitutes for Okmulgee we have used Newman Red. Carbondale, Lizella,
and Neuman Red are three naturally occurring red stoneware or fireclays that
are mined commercially and sold through clay suppliers. I believe that
Highwater carries Neuman Red.
