TC:

Sorry to hear about your plight. I don't have experience crossing the =
border of the US and Canada, but I do have alot of experience crossing =
the border into Mexico.

I have not traveled to Mexico since 1987 when I attended my cousin =
Leticia's "boda" or wedding. My enduring memory of border crossings, =
other than the children trying to sell me Chiclets, was the obligatory =
bribe also known as "la mordida." We paid a bribe on the Mexican side =
of the bridge and another at a checkpoint which was outside of the city =
of Piedras Negras on our way to the village of Allende, Coahuila where =
many of my relatives live.

I'm not sure if the situation has changed. I'll have to ask my parents =
who just returned from a trip to Chiapas ( I got a t-shirt with an =
image of Subcomandante Marcos ;-D ).

I do recall whenever we returned to the US from Mexico the US Customs =
agents were generally nice folks and the passage through was quite =
painless. Of course, we had to pay some sort of duty on the goods =
brought from Mexico including the ubiquitous bottles of "Oso Negro" my =
Tio Manuelito, better known as Meme, always ordered.

Chao,

Rafael
