I just bought an Olympic 2831G but have not fired it yet. I am trying to
get enough ware to fill it up. I got some information from a John McClain
that I thought was helpful as he used three Olympics in his studio. Check
back with me in about three weeks and I should be able to give you some good
information. He said one of the main things for getting an even heat with
these kilns is to have a baffle about three inches under the top port hole.
He said that he used an 18" solid shelve and got good results.

If you like I can send you what he sent me. I also go some information on
an article out of Clay times that was also helpful in a past issue.
