RE: Nutmeg
I'm clueless on manganese but I am aware of the effects of nutmeg
ingestion. In largerf quantieis, (2-3 tbs dose) nutmeg is a very dangerous
hallucinogen with pronounced physical effects (it makes you really sick to
your stomach, lots of vomit, headache, racing pulse, etc.). It was
prominent in the 50s & 60s in penal colonies and prisons as a
recreational drug because of its ready availability as a culinary spice.
Do not play with nutmeg in any quanties other than a pinch or so in the
pumpkin pie.

Barium is also an ingredient in lipstick! And I had a roommate in the 60's
who'd heard you could get high from nutmeg, so she tried it. I don't know
if she got high, but she sure did get weird - later wound up on one of
those "dangers of drugs" tv shows (don't know for sure if it was the
nutmeg, maybe that led to stronger stuff).
