winchcombe pottery uk

This is a great price for a pottery video, let alone one starring the=20
Winchcombe crew. Pity it won't play in the USA & Canada, where the=20
common VHS format is NTSC. While PAL tapes can be converted to NTSC=20
by a video engineer, in my experience quality drops as a result.=20
(That was ten years ago: I don't know if the conversion is any better=20
today).

The latest generation of four-head VCR's seem to be able to play back any
format, NTSC/PAL. I'm not sure of the quality, because NTSC (National
Television Standards Committee) format adopted in North America, seems
inferior in video and audio compared to the PAL (Phase Alternate Line) used
by the rest of us.. To be fair to NTSC it was set a long time ago -1953.

Conversion is great today. Cost in MN is about $15.00 at a storefront vid=
eo
editing service - home video editing service. However many vendors will n=
ot
want to do it as it is a possible copyright violation.

for those of you who do not want to purchase the video in PAL format, the
following is the email I received from them:

"Marc Bradley"

Hi, We are looking into making NTSC copies that should be ready for early
next week. As soon as the master tape has been converted I shall pop you an
email and let you know.

You can see a small section of the video on
http://www.reelthingproductions.co.uk you need to have Real Player.
