electric vs. kickwheel

Dave,

OK Dave you've got me, I disagree entirely with your opinion. Electric =
is not better, nor are kick better, both have their merits.

But note that this option is not for huge pots, where you want power at
relatively low speeds to draw up the walls from 50 pounds of clay... if
you're making large pieces, electric is better

I must protest here. I made my momentum kickwheel using Michael Cardew's =
plans over thirty years ago. I throw up to 120 lbs of clay on my old =
horse. It is in my opinion better than "most" electric wheels.
I have had an electric wheel designed especially for me that crawls =
along with a massive torque - this is the bugger that you need, torque =
not speed. Throwing with either requires a different approach that is =
all.

Happy potting Marek http://www.moley.uk.com=20
