Hey guys,

I have seen several posts recently from people who want to rent studio =
space or have space to rent to others. I just want to say, especially =
to those who want to rent TO others, you need to be really careful about =
who you rent to. (Yes I know that was gramatically incorrect). =20

SCREEN APPLICANTS CAREFULLY!!!!!!!! Think about what you want in a =
studio mate and what you're willing to put up with in terms of mess, =
behaviours, and giving up (sharing) what is yours. Have a written =
contract that spells out in detail what your new pal gets in return for =
the rent check, and what you get from their being there. Believe me =
when I tell you, there are psychos out there and you canNOT afford to =
have their negative energy in your space no matter how much you THINK =
you like 'em. I will share my rental agreement w/ you if you'd like a =
copy via email.

Hi Lisa, having already met a few of the people you refer to I would love to
read your contract pertaining to sharing ones studio. This time around I
want to be fully prepared and in the driver's seat in my shared studio. I
have already cut my teeth and it has been an eye opener. Lori Pierce in N.

My personal feelings are don't do it. I refuse to share my studio with
anybody. I don't fire anybodies work either unless they are very
reliable as potters or sculptors. Then only rarely. If your studio is
large and you don't mind company / distraction then be very specific
where they are allowed to work, share firing costs, etc. Be specific so
there is no misunderstandings. Good Luck, Mike Gordon
