It sounds like you are doing a great job trying new things and seeing what
works and what does not. Try taking several sheets of newspaper, wetting
them
and folding them over the edge of the garbage can. That will seal the smoke
in and give you better reduction in the can. When you have copper glazes
"burp" the lid after a few minutes of reduction for a second or so once or
twice. Experiment to see what works for you. To increase the crackle wait
for a minute or so after taking the pot out of the kiln before putting in
the
garbage can. The longer you wait the tighter the crackle pattern but don't
wait too long or the pot will be too cool to get good reduction. Good luck
