route. As Jules mentioned vaseline is a good sealer in such a situation. Its
quick.
I might also consider a few coats of Murphy's Oil Soap. You could as well be
extra cautious and spray a few coats of poly-urethane just to be sure
(before you apply any vaseline that is). Its your call on that.

I may have missed the original question, but my comment on plaster releasing
agents would be that Murphy's Oil Soap or a reasonable facimile would be the
best if you are going to be making casts from the mold you create. Pam or
some other cooking spray might do as well. The problem with vaseline is
that
it clogs the pores of the palster so that it cannot absorb water, and thus
renders the molds less suitable for casting. I would think that
poly-urethane
would be even worse than vaseline in that regard.
