Just got home from the Oregon Convention Center to look through the OPA =
Showcase. What a truly amazing event. Endless booths (seemed like =
hundreds?) all filled with quality functional, decorative and sculptural =
ceramics. Isles jammed with people. How can so many quality potters =
resides in one place? Is it the water out here? The rain? Is it OPA =
itself? I tried to track down Hank Murrows or Craig Martell (the two =
clayarters I recognized) to introduce myself but couldn't find you guys, =
I assumed you were working the show somewhere and I did have to leave =
quickly to tend to my ill Grandfather. I loved Glenn Burris' orange peel =
shino's and squiggly lines, It was great to hold Craig Martell's tea =
bowls and see his cover in person. Maria Simons wall hangings were =
unbelievable. Wally Schwab's work was amazing. I've always admired Mark =
Heimann's pots. There was so many others I could go on and on. I watched =
Tom Rohr give a demo. I ended up buying a shino bud vase from Hank =
Murrow. I love it. It has small leaf shaped iron sat. marks on shino and =
feels like heaven in your hands, so smooth and comfy. I had a great =
time. To all the OPA members out there who put this on, your =
organization has done a great job of promoting clay, you should be =
proud.=20

Hi Dave:

Thanks for the report on Showcase. I work on the Bookeeping Committee so I
was probably in the office running an adding machine. You can always page
people at the show thru the info desk. Not sure about Hank. He may have
been in the parking lot running some shino grid tiles.
