help!!!

I'm confused (so what else is new?). The switches on my new, custom-made
(read: put together by some old guy in San José) have Low, Med, and Hi
marked on them. In addition, they have numbers from 2 to 9 with little
half-marks between the whole numbers. They only seem to snap into place when
turning on or off. What kind of switches are these?

Thanks,
Martin
