triple beam question

updated mon 29 apr 02

hoping some kind soul will help...
I have two triple beams, one with the hanging basket which weighs grams and
the other with the flat "plate" which weighs in ounces.

I mostly mix small batches of glaze with the hanging basket one, but the
basket is a hassle - the handles get in the way & the swinging takes a
while to stop. Is there a way I can convert the other to grams?

tia,
Valice (hoping this is NOT a stupid question!)

That does sound like a pain. Just find a measurements books and do some
math. Keep a chart by your scales. We had an ancient scale at the U that
weighed pounds and decomals of pounds. They used it in the sculpture
area to weigh the bronzes, wax, and shell molds.
Best wishes,

Concerning converting the ounce beam to grams, or vice versa...you could
just
use the conversion before weighing things out using a calculator.

I believe that 1 pound = 16 ounces and 1 ounce = 28.41 grams

You can look it up, but an oz. equals 28.something grams, just convert your
formulas to ox. It probably be easier to convert the recipe than the scale.

The recipe is just showing you the weight relationships of the materials.
You
could take that gram batch recipe and replace each gram with a TON of
material and
the glaze would be right (assuming that everything else was equal).

Valive,
There are 28 grams in an ounce.
You can recalculate you recipe into ounces.
