fat glaze

Once upon a time...
I was cleaning up the glaze lab at school. Underneath one of the storage
bins I found a ziploc bag of dry powder labeled "PK Fat Shiny". No one
claimed it, so I mixed up a bit with water and fired it on a test tile to
cone 04.
Well, the mystery glaze is way cool. You know how when you're baking and
you cream together the sugar and shortening and the mixture is this pearly
white creamy stuff? That is this glaze. On my red clay is it pretty much
clear where thin, and that fat pearly white like a cloud where it's thick.
So I have just about used up the baggie, and I want to make some more.
I have searched for a glaze formula with this name to no avail.
My question is, what gives a low-fire glaze this "fat" quality? If I know
what to look for, I could find a recipe to start with and experiment to
come up with what I am looking for.
I have used this glaze for a cloud-like white, and also over colors to give
a pearly mist on top of the colors.
Any thoughts on what ingredient or combination of ingredients would create
this "fat" quality at cone 05-04 would be enormously appreciated.
