Hello, I am looking for a small kiln. I guess what they call a test kiln.
I had purchased and older Paragon model and have never had the chance to use
it. I live in an old house and cannot handle 240 watt. Please if you have
any leads on a kiln give me an email, I am desperate!

L&L offers a small test kiln than runs off of 15 or 20 amp household circuit
at 120 watts. The manual runs about $675 and the automatic runs about $950.
both are able to go to cone 8 and there is a model that goes to cone 10 but
is $25 more.
L&L website is http://www.hotkilns.com

good luck

Keep your eyes open for a kiln in your local papers/auction listings...
in the mean time, try finding alternative firing opportunities...
A great source of information on kiln timesharing is at
http://www.bigceramicstore.com/Information/kilntimesharing.htm
The site owner is a member of this list... you'd be amazed at the
opportunities for firing if you're willing to adapt... transporting
greenware can be a challenge, but you can get a plastic storage
bin, line it with foam padding, and if you're careful you will find
that you have very little breakage...

Good luck.

Andi.

Paragon has just introduced a new test kiln called the Caldera. It
fires on a 120 volt, 15 amp circuit and is rated to cone 10. We
intended it for glaze testing.

We have another test kiln called the QuikFire, but it is rated to
only 2000 deg. F. Because the QuikFire is very fast, it is probably
better suited for glass than pottery.
