i gave a mug to ron roy. (second one)
it was blue...he does not always like blue.
he likes dark brown.
david h. likes my blue mugs..and i like his blue mugs.
this was a nice blue mug.
(john gets his mug later.)

no trade, just a gift.

now i know he has it in a bucket covered with
lemon juice and vinegar.

over a week now.

ron, it is ok...it will not go bad, and will not
cause illness to you...just drink coffee or tea, or gin
from it.

he thinks rhodes 32 is a bit short.
but, i did not tell him....i add silica and rutile (titanium)
to it, to make it stable.
mel/ when i am frightened i carry a 12 bore. icky guys hate those,
ron carries a 12 bore too. deer hate ron. he is quick.
you know, ron lived in the woods for years. measured trees and forests.
ask him sometime.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!!!!

A revered potter that makes blue!

I've tried making creams and browns and when I give them to family they say
'that's nice, but I really like blue', so blue is what I'm making. And I
cringe every time someone on the list mentions beginners and their blue
pots.

All you beginners and your blue pots,

We are vindicated!

Our pots may be crappy, but they're blue.

and Mel Jacobson makes blue pots too!

P.S. Now Mel, please don't respond that this single mug was a one-time
unfortunate foray into blue. Thanks, Valerie.

I added .5% cobalt carbonate to Ron and John's zinc semi-matte base and it
is beautiful. Wonderful sheen, lots of depth and variation. Stoneware
browns and tans do very little for me no matter how much character they
have. Even when they're beautiful, I feel no desire to use them in my work.
I like blues, greens, yellows, and reds. Call me a beginner (I am) but I
think it goes much deeper than that - it's who I am. Thank god, we're all
so different, and thank god for blue!
