I have just moved to Midland, Michigan and am trying to find a supply source
for clays, chemicals, tools, etc. Any Advise?

Thanks
Karen

Karen,

Up here in Northport, at the far end of the Eastern Peninsula
my friend Dick Solon keeps/makes supplies for tile decorators.
You know, trays, mirrors, clock backs and stuff like that. I'm in
the same building doing work with the Metal Sulfates for
decorating. Dick Solon, also stocks the English Bisque
tiles in all kinds of shapes and sizes, and can also cut tiles
to fit.

Not a bad place to visit either. Great marina, Lake Michigan
only a short distance across, Travis Bay at our beaches. If
that's not enough, we have lake Lelenau in the middle of the
peninsula. Lots of nice restaurants, and artists Galleries etc.
Bruce G. is the nearest ClayArter I know of, but then Bonnie
S. is over in Charlevoix.

Come up for a daysail during the summer?? I'm always
looking for an excuse to go out.

Best,

Dear Karin,

Replying to your post about sights and places of interest in northern
Michigan, be sure to pick up an "Art Craft Trails" brochure if you stop in
any studio. Most all artists are listed and show open studios, times and
dates. Winter is usually a slack time, however, as the season doesn't start
until Memorial Day usually. Stop in at Bier Gallery about six miles south
of Charlevoix in the historic red schoolhouse. Ask for me as I would love
to meet you.

Good Luck on your trip.

Bonnie Staffel, Charlevoix MI. looking forward to spring.
