You know...

In the motorcycle world there is all kinds of rivalries and snobbery... BMW
folks don't like Harleys, Harleys don't like Japanese bikes... Vespa scooter
folks don't like motorcycles... etc .....

I was talking with my Uncle Creston, who is a nationally known Vespa scooter
guy about these rivalries and he said "If it has two wheels I like them". I
thought that was a really beautiful statement and a good attitude to have.

So the way I see it... there are two ways to look at it... you can be the
type of person who says... "you're a retired high school teacher who dabbles
in ceramics not a potter" or "You make pots, you're a potter"... which is a
more beautiful attitude? You decide...

hey peter,
i like what you uncle has to say and i agree. i have a harley and i love to
ride. sometimes when you ride up on a group or have a group ride up on you, there
does seem to be that little rivalry. myself, i am just so excited to be out there
riding and enjoying that i don't see what the fuss and rivalry could possibly be
about. i feel the same about "the clay thing". we are making pots man, enjoy and
learn. but why must we feel we are any better than another potter just because we
use a certain wheel, clay, high fire or low, been doing it for one year or
fifteen. enjoy and learn, have fun and share!
I MAKE POTS!!!!!
