Does bitten so many times it looks like a rash count?

Even before I introduce myself to the group, the first
thing I'd like to say to all of you in the Clayart
group is Thank You. I'm halfway through my second
course in ceramics and because I'm hooked for life,
I'm looking up information like crazy. Some of the
most precise and most easily understandable info has
been in the Clayart archives, for which I owe each of
you a thank you. Each one teach one each time you
post, oh my!

I'm Michele Williams and I was allowed to do the first
ceramics course with my son for free at Florida
International University because he is disabled and
needed me as a notetaker. I found my calling about 30
years too late, and I have 30 years' production to
make up, or at least that's how it feels. Ideas come
faster than I can put them into drawings, and of
course, the clay sometimes takes me into another
direction entirely, meaning that what I wanted to make
is put off for even later. What is it with this
creative impatience, anyway?

I'm a writer (love that, too) and those ideas wake me
at night and won't let me sleep till I write them
down. Now these ceramic ideas and word ideas have
become a plague of wanting to be up and doing,
regardless of the time. I doubly cherish any time I
get that provides an excuse to leave my legitimate
chores and work to play in the mud. This list has
already proven a valuable tool to make the time I do
have count for something.

I'm a good listener. If I come up with something to
share, you'll hear from me. Otherwise, I'll be
looking, listening, and learning in hopes that someday
I can consider myself a "potting peer". If you come
to Miami, give me an e-mail notice and I'll show you
around.

Michele Williams
