This a great question.

(what do you call quail families, anyway?)

A bevy of quail, a covey of partridges, a gaggle of geese, a flock of =
seagulls, a murder of crows, a bevy of larks, a muster of peacocks, a =
nide of pheasants, a watch of nightingales, a wisp of snipe, a pack of =
grouse, a cast of hawks, etc,...

I love Sting's use of the bird collective metaphor in his song "All This =

"Two priests came round our house tonight; One young, one old to offer =
prayers for the dying, to serve the final right; One to learn, one to =
teach, which way the cold wind blows; fussing and flapping in priestly =
black like a murder of crows."

p.s. I write this as I'm listening to the Opera Workshop next to my =
office rehearse "Hansel and Gretel" by Englebert Humperdink (The =
assistant to Richard Wagner not the 70's pop crooner ;-D )

Subject: Ron's and John's Book/Benefactor

Several of you have posted with concerns about "announcements" of =
successful applicants, or if names are not mentioned, that specific =
individuals' qualifications might be posted. This will not happen. I =
am the ONLY one who will see the brief statements as to qualifications. =
X will not. Neither John nor Ron will know. X is very forceful in =
expressing the need for as much anonymity as possible, including X's =
own, and still be able to get the three books into the hands of three =
Clayart potters who meet the qualifications.

Please feel free to e-mail me with other concerns.

In the Mojave where around 40 quail visited this morning at one time... =
huge ones, royal
ones, young ones .... must have been three separate families (what do =
you call quail families, anyway?). Mojo and I watched for a long time =
.... entranced....
